MoonReading ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the moonreading.net website and the MoonReading mobile application (the "App"), including personalized astrology readings, automatically generated portraits, compatibility reports, a guidance chat, and related digital products.

By using our website and services, you consent to the data practices described in this policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use our services.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Personal Information You Provide

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when using our services, including:

  • Contact Information: Your name and email address, provided when placing an order or contacting us.
  • Birth Details: Your date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth, used to generate personalized astrology readings, birth charts, and moon readings.
  • App Profile: In the App - your chosen name, your intentions, and your residence city. Location is saved at city level only, to compute your local moonrise, moonset, and sky times; precise coordinates are never stored.
  • Guidance Chat: Questions you send in the App’s guidance chat, processed to produce your answer.
  • Survey Responses: Answers you provide to personality and preference surveys that help us customize your readings and recommendations.
  • Soulmate Portrait Preferences: Your selected appearance or heritage preference and any appearance description you choose to enter. These details may reveal sensitive information such as racial or ethnic origin. We do not infer these details from your language, location, device, name, or other profile data.
  • Photographs: Photos you upload for automatically generated portrait products such as Soulmate Portraits, Family Photos, and Age Transformations.
  • Payment Information: Stripe collects and processes payment details for website card purchases. Apple App Store or Google Play processes payment details for mobile purchases. Moon Reading does not receive or store your full card number, CVV, or other full payment credentials.

1.2 Automatically Collected Information

When you visit our website, we automatically collect certain information, including:

  • Device Information: Browser type, operating system, device type, and screen resolution.
  • Usage Data: Pages visited, time spent on pages, click patterns, and referring URLs.
  • IP Address: Used for approximate geolocation, fraud prevention, and analytics.
  • Cookies and Similar Technologies: As described in Section 6 below.
  • App Device Wallet: A random identifier the App creates on your device to keep your credit balance and orders together. We store only a cryptographic hash of it, and it is never linked to advertising identifiers.
  • App Usage and Stability Events: Privacy-safe usage events (screens opened, steps completed) and crash diagnostics. Crash reports carry technical stack information only - never the text of your questions, readings, or profile.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Service Delivery: To generate personalized astrology readings, birth charts, moon readings, compatibility reports, tarot readings, and automatically generated portraits based on the data you provide.
  • Order Processing: To process payments, fulfill orders for digital products, and send order confirmations and delivery notifications.
  • Communication: To respond to your inquiries, send transactional emails, and provide customer support.
  • Improvement: To analyze usage patterns, improve our website and services, and develop new features and products.
  • Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal processes.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate our website and deliver our products:

3.1 Stripe, Apple App Store, and Google Play (Payment Processing)

Stripe processes website card payments. Apple App Store or Google Play processes purchases made in the mobile app. Payment information is transmitted directly to the applicable payment provider. Moon Reading does not receive or store your full card number, CVV, or other full payment credentials. See stripe.com/privacy, apple.com/legal/privacy, and policies.google.com/privacy.

3.2 Text-Generation Providers

We use OpenAI's API to create personalized readings, horoscopes, reports, guidance-chat answers, and the story and image instructions for Soulmate Portraits. For a Soulmate Portrait, OpenAI receives your name, birth date and order answers for the story, plus an age range derived from your birth date, your selected appearance or heritage, and any appearance description you enter for the image instructions. Our OpenAI requests use store:false. OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models by default unless the API account opts in; we have not represented this as a zero-retention service because OpenAI may retain abuse-monitoring logs containing prompts and responses for up to 30 days.

3.3 Image-Generation Providers

We use Kie.ai to route image-generation jobs for portrait artworks such as Soulmate Portraits, Family Visions, and Age Transformations. For Soulmate, Kie.ai receives the final image instructions prepared through OpenAI; it does not receive your name, full birth date or a source photo for that product. The instructions can contain a derived age range, the appearance or heritage you selected, and any appearance description you entered. Family and Aging products send the source photos required for their image-editing jobs. Kie.ai states that generated media is retained for 14 days and task text and metadata for 2 months. Its public upload documentation gives conflicting source-upload deletion windows of 24 hours and 3 days, so Moon Reading treats source uploads as potentially retained for up to 3 days. Kie.ai does not publish a no-training commitment or an immediate per-task deletion API, so we do not promise either.

3.4 Google Analytics and Firebase (Website and App)

The website uses Google Analytics to collect and analyze usage data. The App uses Google Firebase Analytics for privacy-safe usage events and Firebase Crashlytics for crash diagnostics. You can turn App measurement off at any time in Profile → Privacy & security; the choice is remembered and honoured immediately.

4. Photo Upload and Processing

When you upload photos for automatically generated portrait products:

  • Your photos are transmitted securely to our servers and forwarded to our image-generation provider for processing.
  • Moon Reading uses photos to generate the portrait product you requested. Provider handling is described separately in Section 3.
  • Source photos are temporary on Moon Reading's systems. They are deleted from our systems within 24 hours after processing is complete.
  • Moon Reading does not use your photos to train models or for marketing. We do not extend that statement to a provider unless its published terms support it.
  • Generated portrait image files are delivered through your Library and hosted for up to 90 days after delivery. Use Save to keep a local copy before that hosting window ends.
  • In the App, deletion of the uploaded source photo is queued when portrait processing finishes and completes within the same 24-hour limit.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law:

  • Account Data: Your linked-account profile is retained while the account is active and is deleted when you delete the account, subject to legal exceptions described below.
  • Generated Text Readings: Written readings and reports remain in the Library of your linked account until you delete that account. This does not extend the hosting window for generated portrait image files.
  • Order Metadata: Order identifiers, product type, status, timestamps, credit-ledger entries, and refund/support records are stored separately from generated reading and portrait files and may be retained for up to 3 years after your last purchase for support, fraud prevention, and dispute handling.
  • Saved-Reading Inputs: Birth details, survey responses, goals, and other non-photo inputs needed for a written reading in a linked-account Library are retained with that reading until you delete the linked account. Source photos always follow the separate 24-hour rule below.
  • Soulmate Appearance Inputs: Moon Reading keeps your selected appearance or heritage and optional appearance description only while the order is being processed, then removes both from the ordinary order input record when the order is delivered or fails. Minimal consent evidence — the disclosure version, server acceptance time, locale, and a hash of the disclosure copy — is retained separately; it contains none of the appearance choice or description. Provider retention remains as described in Section 3.
  • Uploaded Source Photos: Deleted from Moon Reading's systems within 24 hours after processing is complete. Provider-side source-file retention is described separately in Section 3.
  • Generated Portrait Image Files: Hosted for up to 90 days after delivery. Use Save to keep a local copy; copies saved outside Moon Reading are controlled by you and are not removed automatically when server hosting ends.
  • Analytics Data: Aggregated and anonymized analytics data may be retained indefinitely.
  • Payment Records: Transaction records are retained for up to 7 years as required for tax and accounting compliance.
  • App Credits Ledger: Credit purchases, spends, and automatic refunds are retained as transaction records for as long as your wallet is active.

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to enhance your experience on our website:

6.1 Essential Cookies

These cookies are necessary for the website to function properly, including session management, shopping cart functionality, and security features. They cannot be disabled.

6.2 Analytics Cookies

We use Google Analytics cookies to understand how visitors interact with our website. These cookies collect information such as pages visited, time on site, and referral source. This data is aggregated and anonymized.

6.3 Functional Cookies

These cookies remember your preferences (such as your zodiac sign selection) to provide a personalized experience.

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:

  • SSL/TLS encryption for all data transmitted between your browser and our servers.
  • Secure payment processing through Stripe, Apple App Store, or Google Play, as applicable.
  • Access controls limiting employee access to personal data on a need-to-know basis.
  • Regular security reviews and updates to our systems.

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

Our services are a general-audience experience and are not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if we learn that we have, we will delete it. Purchases require the legal capacity to enter a contract (see our Terms).

10. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States, where our servers and third-party service providers are located. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction. By using our services, you consent to the transfer of your information to these countries. Where required by law, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.
